Filmin Konusu
Savannah’ın en ünlü golfçüsü Rannulph Junnah (Matt Damon), bölgenin en zengin iş adamının kızı Adele (Charlize Theron) ile evlidir ve halk arasında çok popülerdir. Birinci dünya savaşının patlak vermesiyle cepheye ilk gidenler arasında yer alır. Zorlu bir görev sırasında birliğinden tek kurtulan kişi olur ve herşeyi bırakarak kayıplara karışır.
15 yıl sonra Savannah’a geri döndüğünde, Adele’nin babasının intihar ettiğini öğrenir. Adele, babasının en büyük rüyası olan golf sahasının satılmaması için kontrolü eline alır ve bu sahada oynanacak büyük bir karşılaşma organize etmektedir. Organizasyonun başarılı olması için karşılaşmada Amerika’nın en ünlü iki golfçüsü olan Bobby Jones ve Walter Hagen’in yanı sıra yerel bir kahraman olan Junnah’ın da oynaması gerekmektedir.
Kendine güvenini tamamen kaybetmiş olan Junnah’ın yardımına, esrarengiz adam olan Bagger Vance (Will Smith) koşar. Siyahi sopa taşıyıcısı, Junnah’a aynı zamanda akıl hocası olur ve ona kendisini bulmasında yardımcı olur.
